On August 19, 2013 Dr. Juhdi Jasser appeared at the National Fox news with Sean Hannity show and told Mr. Chris Phillips, Director of MAD - Marching Against Drones & DC organizer of Million American March Against Fear (MAMAF) that the Million American March is a circus and also AMPAC and rest of the other groups all are problematic. Jasser along with Fox News mis-coded the Million American March Against Fear to "Million Muslim March"
On an official statement, Mr. MD Rabbi Alam, founder of AMPAC said we "Denounce Terrorism and any type of violence, including nut case like House Muslim Jasser" We condemn Jasser and fox news as well as this corporate media outlet and individuals like jasser are legally responsible and liable for incase if anything happens due to the facts that their Propaganda and Anti-Islamic bigotry as well as Anti-Islamic prejudices and Islamic-Phobia.
MD Alam invites all Americans to stand with him and AMPAC and with many other peace loving Muslims and non-Muslims alike and organizations to join on 9/11/13 for the Solidarity of Peace, harmony and Justice. Alam hopes this Million American March was hijacked by Fox news and mind setup nutcases like Jasser and completely mis-represented to American people. MD Alam believes if today still Malcolm X would alive he would definitely call this nutcase as "HOUSE MUSLIM"..
on 9/11/13 the March and grand Memorial for those who lost their lives and to show respect to the families who lost their loved ones and people this is NOT a Million Muslim March at all, indeed, it is MILLION AMERICAN MARCH AGAINST FEAR. My prayers your heart will find about the truth and finally I am asking House Muslim Jasser - Do you realize that AMPAC is a new organization since July of 2013. If you don’t have enough information, you can tell you don’t know but never lie to American People. AMPAC is here to provide a great helping hand to build a multi-cultural community along with the 7 Million Peace loving Muslim in America. Please don’t lie to American People. I find it very instructive to say that technology can be helpful but not better than the traditional learning practice. Little wonder then that while our students are proficient in the use of their electronic gadgets like cell phones, iphone, ipad etc, they still struggle in class. And in fact the more effective they are using these technological tools, the more help they need to pass their classes. The bottom line is that students must work hard in other to be successful. Technology is not and cannot be a substitute for hard work. The best fit would be technology combined with hard work is equal to great success.
As a high school Mathematics teacher, my experience is more challenging than a high school Computer or Art and PE teacher. While we need to focus on student's acheivement and help them to grasps the content area. I understand that learning is an individual approach and it is different for person to person. As an advanced generation we must equiped ourselves with IT empowerment but the students in elementary schools, grade schools or even high schools must be content area oriented be educated with acedimic integrity. Without grasping the subject area it will be very hard to be implementing the technology in the context.
After reviewing the facts of Clark and Kozma's articles and suggestions, it came to my mind that it was contemproary for the early 90's. It has already 20/23 years been passed and the higher education system been changed. I imagine I graduated high school in 1990. We never had cell phones in our class room. Now in 2012..Look at the high school classrooms now days, what will you see? I graduated my undergraduate in 1996. Those who are in the range of my age and time, you know even in 1996 it was rare to have cell phones in your undergraduate classroom. Now compare the 4 years schooling environment in now days.
Facebbok, Schoology, Youtube, Google, Hulu, Live Broadcasting - Ustream all these technology been evolved within our learning system and we must be benifited out of it. However, it is unfortunate when we have a high school student is receiving text in his or her cell phone in every 5 minutes or so and been distructed specially in Math and science classroom. What do you expect from them? Do you thing this cell phones in classroom is justified? Many of our school districts are not meeting the AYP or students are not achieving a quality grades, yet most of the time those A’s are given and majority of Juniors and Seniors do not have the deep 11th or 12th grade Mathematics or Science knowledge and their GLE’s (Grade Level Expectations) are bellow standard. Using cell phones is critical in high schools. Cell phones, Laptop, Ipads, Iphones in college and higher education is appropriate, which I am not questioning.
Can we imagine about Facebook in 90’s? It was not there and it was not even imaginable. Exacxtly, my point for Clark and Kozma is alligned with this post-technological classroom seeting. Technological hands on experience is completely different than applying technology in learning. There are few learning styles we may talk about. Academic learning is critical than life experience and extra curricular activities.
For example, taking a DMV test in a paper based format than computerized farmat is completely two different experience. In a paper based DMV exam if you answerd wrong, you have no idea was it right or wrong untill the istructor finished grading. On the other hand the Computerized exam tells you immidietely after you finalized a answer and at the end if you don’t pass certain number of question, it will autoatically end the test. Also this system will give you the correct answer of those those that you got wrong. My point is one is life and applicable matter – hands on stuff, however the academic acheivement and content area must be accuired throw conventional method. The media may be manual or digitilized. But the biggest question is who many of young adolescent can be higher acheiver in manual or digitilized instructions?
Using technology when it is needed is important but not when it distructs learning. it is just a simple reserch question of my own. I been seeking answer how much distruction a cell phone brings in high school class room. Let's go back to the point of Clark and Kozma. One suggested and the other supported. Here is a biggest dis-appointment: Technology is blessing of our time yet it is hurting our young adult adolescent acheving in content area.
